What is physical therapy?
Physiotherapy or physical therapy is a profession that focuses on the science of movement. Their aim is to help people improve and maintain their physical health through physical intervention, patient education and health promotion.

What should I expect my first treatment?
During an initial assessment, your physiotherapist will

Review your medical history and ask questions about your primary concern/injury

Perform a physical exam. They may touch the affected area to check for tenderness, swelling or heat. They may also test movement, strength and pain levels.

After the exam, they will explain their findings and how physiotherapy can help

You will also define your goals and come up with a treatment plan together
How many sessions will I need?
Recovery time depends on many factors, including general health, stress, rest and nutrition. Everyone’s journey to recovery is different and unique to them. Speak with your therapist about your goals.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
In Manitoba you do not need a doctor’s referral before seeing a Physiotherapist. Contact us today to get started!
Is physiotherapy covered by public health?

While most physiotherapy services are covered privately. Some services may be offered through public health programs. Discuss with your family doctor if you would qualify. Manitoba Health may also cover some cost for certain procedures (ie Elective hip/ knee surgery). Connect with Manitoba Health to confirm if you would qualify for coverage PRIOR to beginning your treatments.
